Welsh Weekend in Betws-y-Coed 23-25 April 2010 ... Book Now

E V E N T S
*Sunday 14th February: * Meet at 12.00 for 12.30 at the Grandstand for a run organised by Howard & Jane Richardson which will finish with a lunch.  They have a deserved reputation for setting good runs & perhaps we should remember it is St Valentine's Day!

*Sunday 21st March: * The Chairman's Run so for the last time before the clocks go forward we meet at 12.00 at the Grandstand & move away at 12.30.  George has some great ideas for places to go for lunch but to find out where we are going you will need to be there at the start!

*Sunday 4th April: * Easter Sunday so by tradition it will be an afternoon run & we will hold the AGM over afternoon tea.  Meet at the Grandstand at 2.00 for 2.30 for a run to be set by David & Dianne Karran.  This is the meeting to attend when any ideas or suggestions you have for the future of the Club will be most welcome.

The Manx Classic Car Club was formed in 1973 by a group of local pre-war car enthusiasts amongst whom was the late Sam Clutton former President of the Vintage Sports Car Club, who became our first Chairman with Brian Mylchreest as President. Back then they met in the Majestic Hotel which is now a prestigious block of apartments.

Originally intended to be a club for owners of pre 1940 cars only, this has had to be amended over the years and now includes any car that qualifies for the £5 annual road tax in the Isle of Man (i.e. cars over the age of 25 years).  At present the preferred cut off date is the end of the ‘60s for mass produced cars and somewhat later for quality or low volume makes.  Associate membership is offered to keen individuals who don’t yet own an eligible car.

Here on the Island we probably have as fine a collection of vintage and veteran cars as anywhere in the world and certainly some of them are unique and famous.  Our membership is currently over 130 people and bearing in mind that collecting old cars can become quite addictive we probably have as many cars.

During the summer months we generally meet once a month for a run out followed by afternoon tea.  We are also invited to form displays at various fetes, garden parties and other transport related gatherings.

In the winter we tend to meet earlier in the day and finish the run with lunch and a film show or talk.

Annual membership is only £5 for a single member or £10 for a couple/family. Please contact the secretary for further details.
