Sunday 26th July   Bring your own food and drink for a BBQ at President Bob Riding’s home, Ballakeil House at Blue Point Cross Roads.  Go straight there for mid-day and the fire will be ready to cook on at 12:45. Travel north up through Ramsey and on to Bride. Carry straight on keeping the church on your right and along the coast road for 2.5 miles and then turn right SP A10 The Lhen. Another 0.6 miles and Bob’s paddock is on the right.  Alternatively if you come up the West side of the Island, go past the new prison and carry straight on along the A10 coast road SP Bride, straight over at Blue Point Cross Roads turn left into Bob’s east paddock to join the rest.  If wet it will still take place, but in a barn. (if you get lost call Bob on 491008 or Michael on 493309)

Sunday 2nd August  As well as Peel Carnival there will also be the Manx Transport Group Peel Classic Vehicle Show on the car park beside and behind their Museum.  Probably worth being there early to secure somewhere to park.

The Manx Classic Car Club was formed in 1973 by a group of local pre-war car enthusiasts amongst whom was the late Sam Clutton former President of the Vintage Sports Car Club, who became our first Chairman with Brian Mylchreest as President. Back then they met in the Majestic Hotel which is now a prestigious block of apartments.

Originally intended to be a club for owners of pre 1940 cars only, this has had to be amended over the years and now includes any car that qualifies for the £5 annual road tax in the Isle of Man (i.e. cars over the age of 25 years).  At present the preferred cut off date is the end of the ‘60s for mass produced cars and somewhat later for quality or low volume makes.  Associate membership is offered to keen individuals who don’t yet own an eligible car.

Here on the Island we probably have as fine a collection of vintage and veteran cars as anywhere in the world and certainly some of them are unique and famous.  Our membership is currently over 130 people and bearing in mind that collecting old cars can become quite addictive we probably have as many cars.

During the summer months we generally meet once a month for a run out followed by afternoon tea.  We are also invited to form displays at various fetes, garden parties and other transport related gatherings.

In the winter we tend to meet earlier in the day and finish the run with lunch and a film show or talk.

Annual membership is only £5 for a single member or £10 for a couple/family. Please contact the secretary for further details.
